these photographs capture the subtle beauty of time passing

How much does one change over a period of nine years? Shutterbug Peter Funch set out to explore this simple idea – not with his own life, but with those of strangers. From 2007 to 2016, the photographer snapped the same corner of New York City at the same time, every morning. Over the course of this project – titled 42nd and Vanderbilt – what Peter found was the ordinary choreography of everyday routine, which – through his lens – turned into something extraordinary. It was simply just the same people, travelling the same way, sometimes even wearing the same thing, and so often performing the same habits, and yet it's kind of wonderful.
