photographer jane hilton captured eerie vegas chapels
There are a few things you’d expect to see at a Vegas wedding: an Elvis impersonator, first and foremost. Or a flamboyantly dressed couple at the very least. Strangely enough, both are missing from Jane Hilton’s photographs. Taken in the 1990s, Jane’s snaps of empty wedding chapels instead draw your attention to the garish décor of Las Vegas’ kitschiest spaces. Without human life, the images feel rather haunting (and particularly relevant to COVID times). If you happen to live in East Sussex in the UK, you can catch Jane’s work in the flesh at Solaris Gallery up until July 31st.
