amy meissner's 'mother thought of everything'
We’ve been far more conscious of staying safe and protecting others in the last year, and Alaska-based artist Amy Meissner explores this concept with her latest work 'Mother Thought of Everything'. The photo series depicts a family in everyday life, perfectly ordinary except that they're completely faceless and wearing matching hand-sewn suits. Amy uses found objects and abandoned textiles to hand-stitch her designs, aiming to reference and challenge assumptions around the value of women’s labour. The resulting photos capture just how surreal normality feels right now.
