A haunting photo series about loss and the power of memories.
Our memories can be unreliable at the best of times, but there are some experiences we'll never forget. For photographer Heather Evans Smith, it's the time she spent with her grandmother at the alterations department, surrounded by big boxes of buttons and whirring sewing machines, that she treasures most. As time went on, Heather came to realise how little she really knew about her granny. Sadly, all she had left were her memories and old photographs, both of which she's woven together in a rather haunting photo series titled ‘Alterations’.
