bendigo’s all shook up over the new elvis exhibition
The King of Rock 'n' Roll is in town.
It’s time to dust off your blue suede shoes and perfect your pelvic thrust, because Elvis: Direct from Graceland is now showing at Bendigo Art Gallery. The exclusive exhibition tracks Elvis’ career and delves into his personal life by showcasing around 300 of his possessions, including his impressive collection of iconic jumpsuits, as well as his costumes, military uniforms and wedding tuxedo (Priscilla’s wedding dress is also on display). Elvis’ schmick 1960 MG from the movie Blue Hawaii and his custom-made 1976 Bicentennial Harley Davidson – both of which are bright red – have also rolled in for the show.
In celebration of the King’s arrival, Bendigo is throwing a tonne of Elvis-themed events and experiences, like the Shake, Rattle & Roll Cocktail Tram, a paint and sip session, trivia nights and screenings of Elvis’ movies. There are also loads of food and drinks specials available at venues around the region (many of which feature bacon and PB&J, of course). Head to the Bendigo Art Gallery website to nab a ticket to the exhibition, and boogie over this way to check out the full program of Elvis-themed events.
Elvis: Direct from Graceland runs from March 19 to July 17.
