this artist embroiders cats into famous paintings

By

We’ve previously reported on a physical moggie museum and admired plenty of feline-themed embroidery (see here, here and here), but we’d never heard of a cat embroidery museum – until now. For the past six months, super-talented embroidery artist Minami has been crafting a collection of miniature embroidered versions of famous paintings and curating the collection on their Instagram account, Cat Embroidery Museum.

Each intricately embroidered brooch or patch reimagines the subject of the famous painting as a feline. Among the many cat-ified works are Edvard Munch’s The Scream, Johannes Vermeer’s Girl with a Red Hat, John Everett Millais’ Ophelia, Vincent van Gogh’s Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear and Pipe and Leonardo da Vinci’s Annunciation. Direct your cultured cat friends this way to view the museum's complete collection (there are currently more than 20 individual works on display).
