shane wheatcroft turns vintage portraits into curious collages
They say that the eyes are the window to the soul, but in the case of these collages by UK artist Shane Wheatcroft, the eyes are simply eyes, and it’s actually the rest of the face that acts as a window into some very swish retro interiors and cinematic scenes.
Shane was working as a painter for years before he discovered the beauty of collage, but lucky for us, he now dedicates most of his time to sourcing images from vintage magazines, old books, stamps and paper ephemera to assemble his portrait-style pieces. The scenes within each portrait often tell stories about mid-century romance and domestic life, but at times, they can also be ominous.
