We often hear how excessive tourism can damage the environment, but Austrian design group Steinbrener/Dempf & Huber scaled new heights just to prove this point. In 2020, they installed a faux ‘tourism information booth' on a literal cliff face at Myra Falls, a popular site for trekkers in Austria. The eye-catching artwork sits directly next to a beautiful cascade, and is a critique of those who exploit nature in pursuit of profits.
Florian Schublach, head of the Oetscher-Tormaeuer Nature Park (and the very person who commissioned this artwork) said the piece was also meant to detract tourists.
