why frankie is voting yes in the upcoming referendum
While not without its flaws, we believe that The Voice is a step forward towards a brighter future.
Early voting booths are open for The Voice referendum and we're coming in to say that the team at frankie are voting YES! We're voting yes as it's well overdue to recognise and listen to the First Nations People of Australia. The Voice will give First Nations people a say on policies and laws that affect them in their communities (rather than leaving it up to politicians who don't understand their needs or represent a political party!).
Apart from giving First Nations People recognition, putting The Voice into our Constitution means that it'll be a permanent body that can't be removed without another referendum. This gives The Voice protection, security and certainty. Governments set advisory bodies for Indigenous issues, however, they chop and change when new political parties come in and this disadvantages First Nations people.
While we are voting yes at frankie, we acknowledge that it doesn't go far enough. We don't see this yes vote as the finish line, but as progress.
