tunesday – local the neighbour releases a new single
Wistful indie beats for gloomy days.
David Quested, the Taiwanese-Australian artist who makes music under the moniker Local the Neighbour, originally trained in jazz drumming and studied at the University of California before finding his cruisy indie-rock sound.
He’s just released his latest single, “Ruin Me” – a nostalgia-inducing track that’s comfortably melancholic in its soothing, bright sounds. The single features bass from The Cat Empire’s Ryan Monro and shows off David’s ace drumming skills – a choice that he says he doesn’t make often. “As a drummer, I don’t tend to write music featuring the instrument much, so I figured this was the moment,” he says. “It’s all about wanting to throw everything you have at something you want, knowing you may not succeed.”
The single is lifted from David’s forthcoming debut EP, HUME31 pt.1, which is out on April 21st. We’ll no doubt be listening to “Ruin Me” on repeat until then. Peep the track’s video below.
