this zine shop is a trove of hidden treasures
Singapore’s Shrub has a zine collection to rival them all.
If you ever find yourself on the bustling streets of Singapore, make your way to the city's pocket of Kallang, go up the weathered steps of the iconic Golden Mile Tower and look for the former locksmith store. Don't be fooled, though – this isn’t a place for cutting keys. Instead, you’ll discover one of the coolest zine shops going around.
Shrub is a shop that is home to an assortment of zines, books, clothes and pretty much every other kind of knick-knack you’d want to bring back home with you. The shop has been carefully curated to feature a bunch of independent artists from across the world, and all of it can be found behind the storefront of an old locksmith’s (that used to belong to the store's grandparents). Think: hand-crafted booklets, quirky pins and plenty of old-school graphic tees.
No need to fret if you can’t make it to Singapore to visit this haven of DIY goodies – you can take a gander at their zine collection and other bits and bobs on their website here.
