Despite our best efforts, there's still a belief in many fashion circles that black is the default colour. Thankfully, New York City-based Susan Alexandra specialises in eye-catching, colourful accessories to challenge even the most dedicated monotone lover. We especially love the beaded bags: from teensy evening clutches to larger designs, there's one for every shade of the rainbow (and every variety of fruit you can imagine).
After falling in love with the kitschy beaded figurines she spotted in a Chinatown shop, Susan commissioned the business to create her first bag. Things took off from there, and now her label employs a whole team of women found through the shop to handmake each design.
