The now 76-year-old designer might be most well-known for her raucous fashion designs and affiliation with the Sex Pistols, but it’s her strident political activism, coupled with a refusal to back down that makes her a compelling subject in Westwood, a new documentary about her life and work.
Director Lorna Tucker spent three years collecting footage, following Vivienne from the cutting room to runway, out into street protests and onto Greenpeace missions. We're given a glimpse into her world – and through the words of Vivienne and those closest to her, learn of the designer's uphill battle to hold onto her principles while running a business driven by consumerism and expansion.
