Your Golden Gaytime fix – without the melty bits.
As much as we believe there’s no bad time for a Golden Gaytime, Australia’s favourite summer ice-cream isn’t quite as tempting when we’re freezing our bums off in winter. Marie over at Sugar Salt Magic has a nice, all-weather alternative: the Golden Gaytime slice. Instead of ice-cream, she uses vanilla custard, sandwiched by layers of biscuit and toffee. Each slice is also dipped in chocolate and topped with biscuit crumbs (blitzed-up Arnott’s bikkies work just fine). Marie’s recipe yields 14 serves, so you can share the goodness with your mates (or other nice people within your lockdown zone). That’s pretty great news, because we hear it’s hard to have a Gaytime on your own.
