Get ready, thrifty types, because the Garage Sale Trail is back for two big weekends! Whether you’ve got some old knick-knacks that need a new home, you’re an avid bargain hunter, or you simply enjoy sifting through other people’s old stuff, the festival is loads of fun.
Two chums in Bondi started the event back in 2010 to connect with their neighbours, reduce waste and make some sweet cashola. Buying second-hand and being more environmentally-savvy in general has become way more popular since then, so naturally, the Garage Sale Trail has grown, too. At this year’s Trail, it’s expected that more than 300,000 folks will shop or sell at more than 10,000 in-person and online garage sales, saving roughly 1.5 million kilograms of stuff from landfill. (A bloody good effort, we reckon!)
The garage sales will take place over two weekends in November (12th–13th and 19th–20th), but that doesn’t mean you can’t start preparing now. Register as a seller or search for sales near you by popping over to Garage Sale Trail’s website.
