all of the pretty things at this year’s bowerbird market
Design lovers of Adelaide are in for a real treat.
As much as we love link hopping from one local maker to another, nothing beats eyeballing their goodies in the flesh. Getting to hold a product and meet its maker is one of the best parts of Adelaide’s Bowerbird Market, and one of the reasons why crafty folks from around the country have been setting up shop there for the last decade.
Luckily for Adelaide design lovers, Bowerbird is back at the Adelaide Showground this November 1-3, with an all-star line-up of over 200 Australian makers. You’ll spot a few of our favourite interstate talents below, but for the full rundown on what to expect (including workshops and food stalls), head right here.
MIDDLE CHILD, VICTORIA
You might already be familiar with designer Lauren Hassett’s leathergoods brand Oktoberdee. Middle Child is Lauren’s range of playful jewellery, featuring geometric shapes and unexpected materials.
EGGPICNIC, NEW SOUTH WALES
Whether you consider yourself an avid birdwatcher or not, Eggpicnic’s artful flock is a heckin' delight to look at. The Sydney-based illustration studio run by Camila De Gregorio and Christopher Macaluso is devoted to wildlife conservation, and most recently collaborated with the Sydney Opera House, creating prints of uniquely Australian birds.
CORNER BLOCK STUDIO, QUEENSLAND
This Brissy business makes nifty frames for those of us who are ready to move on from sticking up posters with washi tape and Blu Tack. Their wooden frames hold everything from art prints to cards and books, and look pretty swish in the process.
KOOKERY, WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Amy from Kookery knows all too well how much we love a good food pun. Her range of kitchen bits and bobs, including some delightful tea towels, are motivation enough to whip up a delish meal.
IRENE TAN AKA MISSY MINZY, CANBERRA
Illustrator and graphic designer Irene Tan makes things for your inner-child (and actual kid). From enamel pins of Aussie icons to tea towels referencing the nation's capital, Irene's playful style makes everything (including The Skywhale) look super-adorable.
