welcome to 2080

By Emma Do

Where the past is the future.

What would Justin Bieber have looked like back in the ‘80s? Setting aside the obvious fact that he wouldn’t have yet graced the earth, Melbourne illustrator Fulvio Alejandro imagines the pop sensation to have looked equally skeezy, fine upper-lip covering in tact.

Justin is just one of the cast members of Fulvio's series The 2080s, an illustrated collection of modern pop musicians and their hypothetical ‘80s LP covers. Considering the rate at which current artists are throwing it back to the aural and visual aesthetics of decades past, we think it's a pretty clever concept.

Other highlights include Taylor '1989' Swift donning the workingwoman’s power perm and Drake as a Lionel Richie-type crooner. If you're after a hearty chuckle, check out the full series over here.
