the online knitting reference library

The most comprehensive gallery of ’70s men leaning awkwardly against trees you’ll ever see.

Cool news: the University of Southampton’s Knitting Reference Library is now online and available to download for absolutely nix. That’s 300 knitting books published between 1849 and 2012, including more than a few historical curiosities – like a manual of housewifery and instructions on how to knit stockings.

Most impressive, however, is the library’s bounty of men’s sweater patterns. You thought you’d seen ‘daggy’? Sorry, but you haven’t – at least not this much of it in one glorious place. Head over to the archive for more patterns than you’ve ever dreamed of, and the most comprehensive gallery of ’70s men leaning awkwardly against trees you’ll ever see.
