If you’ve ever been curious about what life was like between the ‘40s and ‘70s, take a peek at The Anonymous Project. Started in 2017 by filmmaker Lee Shulman, it’s a collection of anonymous family photos that Lee pulled together from eBay, vintage sellers and donations.
The special thing about these snapshots is that they weren’t taken by interlopers or documentarians, but by regular folks who knew the people they pointed their lens at. The shots are a sweet, intimate slice of life from unknown places and dates, yet something about them feels so oddly familiar, a bit like flipping through your grandma’s photo album.
