Architect Yukihiro Akama makes houses, but they're not quite big enough to live in (unless you'd describe your height as 'Borrower size', that is). Living in Japan in 2011, he'd bought a block of land and planned to build his family a home with the ancient wood found on it, only for it to be tragically ruined by a tsunami and the Fukushima nuclear power disaster. While he can't build the house he'd imagined, Yukihiro has continued chipping away at miniature versions, made from wood found while exploring with his kids in the nearby forest. Pretty sweet, huh?

Have a look at all of miniature houses on the Shop Floor Project.
