russian hand-carved window frames

Get a squiz at some sweet Russian window frames. (Warning: desire to renovate home may ensue.)

Over the past nine years, shutterbug Ivan Khafizov has travelled to 140 villages across Mother Russia for one reason: to photograph the country’s historic hand-carved window frames. They’re more than a little bit lovely, just like the kind of thing you’d find in a fairy tale (minus, presumably, the witch who coaxes you inside, then boils you alive for the purposes of making a tasty human stew). Only trouble is they’re a bit endangered – hence Ivan’s mission to preserve their likeness. Take a scroll through our gallery of his work just below, then pop over to his Instagram to see all his latest snaps.
