priyesh trivedi's model students

Artist Priyesh Trivedi puts a deeply sarcastic spin on Indian educational posters.

Good boys and girls are the kind who get up early in the morning, obey their parents and pray regularly. At least that’s what India’s educational posters from the ‘80s and ‘90s would have you believe. Artist Priyesh Trivedi, who grew up with images of ‘model behaviour’ scattered across his textbooks, wanted to send a big up yours to the propaganda of his childhood. So, he created Adarsh Balak, a dark and deeply sarcastic series of comics parodying the old-school posters with a good dose of cartoon violence and recreational drug use. Scroll through his anarchic scenes below if you dare, or head here for more.
