Strange and lovely in equal measure, these two-legged fish represent themes of migration.

Every so often, we stumble across art that makes us do a double take. Such is the case with Canada-based artist Pilar Mehlis's fish-person works – a mix of sculptures and paintings that draw you in with their strange loveliness. Pilar says the half-human, half-aquatic animals embody themes of migration and immigration, experiences which are reflected in her own life story (Pilar moved from Bolivia to Canada as a child).
