If we were to create a Venn diagram labelled with ‘genius’ and ‘impossibly simple’, these pieces from artist Nikolai Tolstyh would sit smack-bang where the circles meet.

The clever fella uses papercutting to snip out silhouettes of different animals, then photographs them in a natural setting to give the creatures a bit more oomph.

Quite aside from the fact that we’re dying to know where all these luscious flower beds are growing, we’re a wee bit in love with this project, which you can see more of over on Nikolai’s Instagram account.
