miniature collages on accordion-folding scrolls

Here’s a lovely way to frame a tiny masterpiece – in an accordion-folding scroll.

Although there’s nothing wrong with framing your artworks the traditional way (i.e. in timber or metal), there’s something rather charming about popping a tiny masterpieces on an accordion-folding scroll – just like multi-skilled Japanese lass Nao Morigo has done. These artworks of hers are actually miniature collages, crafted from assorted materials, including brass, copper and Yuzen washi paper. They each depict elements of nature, thus portraying the interwovenness of time – or so we hear. To get up close and personal with Morigo’s works, pop past the Ronin Gallery in New York (should you be in the Big Apple some time soon). Otherwise, you can keep up to date with her latest goings-on via Twitter.
