lighting, layers and reflections

Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones, but those who put coloured glass houses in the middle of California should get a hearty pat on the back.

Nothing beats the majesty of a sunset, but these lighting installations in California come pretty damn close. Created by photographer Autumn de Wilde (who wins today’s prize for most awesome-sounding name), the house-like structures are made from mirror and coloured plexiglass – and the effect they create is delightfully surreal. Autumn, who designed the houses for a photo shoot, says that she hoped the light would “interact and transform with the landscape as the sun rose, passed over us and set”. See more of her stuff just over here.
