A trip to Ikea is a painful affair for many of us (or joyous, if you’re the kind of person who enjoys following arrows and feasting on two dollar hot dogs). But for Rhode Island arts graduate Kimberley Corday, a trip to the Swedish megastore meant something else altogether. Stumbling upon a sheepskin duster inspired her to turn wool into “lush, abstract wall-hanging[s] reminiscent of, say, a threadbare pelt or strange, ancient relic” – and thus her fiber art practice was born.
