in your backyard: the craft hive's crafternoon tea

We came across this cockle-warming project a little bit late in the game, but still thought it was worth spreading some 'yay, people!' cheer.

We came across this cockle-warming project a little bit late in the game, but still thought it was worth spreading some 'yay, people!' cheer. In the wake of January's devastating Tasmanian bushfires, a group of crafty ladies got together to lend a hand. Instead of sending money to the victims, they figured that love and comfort would keep them warmer at night, so they established Woollies For Tassie – a callout for kindly people worldwide to send through hand-knitted or crocheted squares.

Stitched into the cosiest (and most well-travelled) of blankets, these 3000+ 'crafted with love squares' will be showcased tomorrow at a special crafternoon tea. Taking place at the Tarremah School Hall in the Craft Hive's hometown of Hobart, you can expect door prizes, a raffle, and an unbeatable smorgasbord of tasty treats, not to mention a room full of compassion and community spirit.

To attend, just RSVP to [email protected], or for more info just pop by their website.
