feast your eyes

By Staff Writer

Sydney artist Mechelle Bounpraseuth has recently created some charming ceramics inspired by the remnants of a party, i.e. chips and goon sacks.

Chips and ciggie butts, crushed beer cans and crushed dreams. Depending on your disposition and hangover prowess, the morning after the night before can invoke all sorts of feelings. Sydney artist Mechelle Bounpraseuth knows this and has created some fun scenes that replicate that feeling (whatever it is for you). Her work has recurring motifs of pigeons, abandoned meals and junk – what she describes as “objects of loss”. By turning these sad scenes into nice ceramics, the clever cookie adds a whole new layer to the meaning of the objects, and brings about a rather comic effect, too.
