daisy patton's painted faces

Artist Daisy Patton uses paint to keep old photos alive.

Do you ever have vivid dreams where you remember exactly what happened but not who was involved? Daisy Patton’s art is a little bit like that. For her series ‘Forgetting is so long’, she collected anonymous family photographs and painted over them with vivid colour and pattern, obscuring and altering faces like a foggy memory. She describes the altered portraits as “not alive but not quite dead”; a rather curious way to remember important photos long after the people in them have gone.
