check out loads of aboriginal art at desert mob this month
Take a gander at the work of emerging and established First Nations artists, snap up a piece for yourself and learn about Aboriginal culture.
Keen to expand your art collection with some rad pieces made by First Nations artists? We highly recommend having a squiz at Desert Mob – an annual exhibition that showcases the ace work of creatives from desert art centres across the Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia.
From September 8th until October 23rd, the Araluen Arts Centre in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) will be displaying hundreds of pieces from emerging and established First Nations artists. Can't make it to the physical show? Don’t fret – an online gallery will also be available from September 9th.
As part of their annual program, Desart is also holding artist talks on September 9th, and an art marketplace and workshops on September 10th (there’ll be a bunch of affordable paintings, punu (woodcarvings), ceramics, Tjanpi weaving, sculptures, clothing, jewellery, textiles, and homewares on offer). All funds from any purchases will go directly to the art centres, so you’ll be supporting desert communities while adding to your art collection. Pretty sweet, eh? Pop over to Desart’s website for all the deets.
